Planning and constructing huge buildings may look like a mammoth task – from the foundations being laid to someone finally stepping foot inside can take hundreds of workers, thousands of days, and a lot of waiting.
Getting all the components of the building right can also be a tricky process – in certain countries, it might need to be especially resistant to the effects of an earthquake, or be able to purify the air.
And we shouldn’t even get on to design, everyone has their own style and it’s hard to agree.
But one thing is for certain – my amazement when I saw a video where workers started constructing a 30-storey hotel building and had it fully completed in just 15 days.
Yes, you read that correctly, 15 days.
Workers in China from the sustainable building company, Broad Group, have been videoed undertaking the breathtaking feat in a stunning time lapse video.
The video starts out showing the foundation being laid for the huge building, standing hundreds of feet high, before construction quickly gets going at an alarming pace.
The building is made to be able to withstand a magnitude 9 earthquake and according to the video, is an incredible five times more earthquake-resistant than conventional buildings.
It’s made with a unique diagonal steel bracing, allowing for the parts to be put together much quicker and with less wastage than in normal buildings.
After just a few hours the building already begins to take real shape.
Using advanced air cleansing methods, an energy efficient system five times greater than normal, and putting the final touches on the design, after just 360 hours the building is complete.
This stunning feat was only made possible through the power of engineering.
